Job Title: Project Manager

Department/Section/Location:

A Major Construction Company in the Carribean has a programme of rapid expansion into the Caribbean. As a result a new dynamic but experience Civil Engineering Project Manager is required in Nassau.

Main Purposes of Job:

The role is responsible for the planning, co-ordination and control of programmes and projects, working closely with colleagues responsible for delivering the project to ensure they are completed on time, within budget and to the quality specified.

Key Tasks:

Contribute to the bidding process and subsequent project set up by agreeing the overall project scope, objectives, timescales and costs with colleagues and partners responsible for delivering the services.

Compile a detailed project plan – what needs to be done, when, by whom, and to what standards, including critical paths and detailed work breakdown schedules.

Identify project risks, threats and opportunities and work with colleagues to develop mitigation plans and actively manage the risks.

Ensure that all documentation, drawings and plans are controlled and administered in accordance with the document control procedure and appropriate company processes and standards are adhered to.

Manage the project compliance process, ensuring that regular project reviews take place, that senior management are fully aware of progress and potential issues and appropriate authorisations are made.

Proactively flag problems and deviances from plan and initiate corrective actions, effectively communicating any changes and updating project plans and documentation.

Effectively report on progress, programme issues, risk and opportunities to the MD.

Prepare a written monthly report including the financial status of the project in an agreed format for transmission to Head Office.

Responsible for implementing and maintaining safe systems of work. This will include regular assessment of new risks and hazards.

Delivery of Project on or ahead of time and Quality.
Meet or exceed execrated cash flows and profit for the project.
Maintain excellent Safety and Standards.
Maintain Excellent Client and Supplier Relationships.

Expansion into new Areas across the Caribbean.

Responsible for Staff/Equipment:

Responsible for a Project team, consisting on QS, Site Managers, and Foremen, along with Site Operatives, typically 30 to 100 total staff.

Reporting to:

Managing Director or Caribbean Director.

Qualifications:

Degree Level education or equivalent.
Formal project management training – APM / Prince or other accredited qualification.

Skills/Competencies:

Good construction industry knowledge with a detailed understanding of asphalt operations.

Good understanding of construction project design, methods and standards.

Good Excel skills, an understanding of proprietary project management. software and best practice methodology.

Good commercial and financial awareness.

Good organizational skills, written and oral communication.

Good understanding of operating in remote locations.

Managing mixed cultures and scarce resources.

Local procurement practices and issues.

Experience Required:

At least 5 years in a senior project management role with responsibility for a major contract.

Civil Engineering and Construction Projects over $40 million dollars.

Knowledge of Earthworks, Road Works, Airfield Works and Construction Internationally.

Salary:

$100 K p/a
